Katie Gabriel-Cox

What did you do immediately after high school was over?

I hung out at Strands for the summer, worked as a lifeguard at Crown Valley Pool, and then attended UCSD in the Fall.

What are your best memories of Dana Hills?

Long days at the beach, my friends, being on swim team, going to school dances in rented R.V.s, and my little brother escorting me at Homecoming.

If you could have any part of the Dana Hills campus named the Katie Gabriel-Cox Memorial, what would it be?

Mrs Dickey’s Latin Class. Yes, my parents made me take Latin.

What has been your single-most life changing event since DHHS?

Meeting my husband, Jesse, in college. We got married in San Francisco over 11 years ago.

Where are you living now? And what are you doing?

We live in Aptos, just South of Santa Cruz. I’m an ObGyn. Lots of babies and vaginas. I’m a proud mother of 4 boys: 7 year old identical twins Ben & Tommy, 3 year old Andrew, and 2 year old Charlie. I recently got into surfing. I watch my boys play soccer. And we take family roadtrips.

Any regrets? Or big plans ahead for change?

I missed the 10 year. So I want to stay in better touch with classmates after this reunion. The only other regret I can think of is wearing this dress I made to a dance once in high school and it was…very eighties.

Any comments for classmates approaching you at the reunion?

I’m totally psyched to be at the reunion! But please don’t be scared off by my gray hairs and glasses!
